The term ‘the Other side’ has been used a lot recently. What
is ‘the Other side’ anyway?
I sort of understand it in politics as Republican Party vs
Democratic Party but are these government officials suppose to be public
servants working for the people rather than promoting divisive politics?
There always seems to be ‘the other side’. And when we come face-to-face with ‘the
other side’ we get defensive. (http://nimrodstudios.blogspot.com/2018/09/conflict.html)
Red vs Blue? Black vs White? Workers vs Management? Patriots
vs Packers? North vs South? Young vs Old? Rich vs Poor? Good vs Evil?
Believers vs Non-believers? Smart vs Dumb?
Seems for every movement there is opposition. Neither is
right or wrong.
Like the news reports and the talking heads and the govspeak
that has filled our week, we must take sides against ‘the other side’. We will
gather enough concurrence and possible evidence to prove ‘Our side’ is better
than ‘the Other side’.
Perhaps that is why all the neighbors have built privacy
fences? Perhaps that is why all the social media comments have become so
hateful and polarizing? Perhaps we have lost the skill to listen and learn from
different ideas and thoughts and maybe be persuaded to agree with ‘the Other
side’. Rather than being
defensive, we should agree to disagree.
