Have you been
interrogated?
I bet you
have.
First Date.
Job interview. Coming home late. Bad grades. Caught behind enemy lines. Press
conference.
Interrogation
is questioning · cross-questioning · cross-examination · quizzing · probing ·
inquisition · catechism · investigation · interviewing · interview · debriefing
· pumping · grilling · the third degree · examination.
So why isn’t
a politician put under this vetting?
A politician
just prints up some highlights and some nice photos of family with pets (no
goldfish) then hits the fund raising circuit to tell whoever is seated whatever
they want to hear.
The day of
reckoning comes and we blindly choose what the propaganda advertising persuaded
us to believe. Then the one with the best tale gets the most numbers and moves
into office for many years, representation our wishes, hopes and dreams (or
not) and we pay them.
Only after
they have settled in do we start complaining. Maybe we should be interrogated?
Should the
‘right to vote’ just mean that you were born here?
But then the
talking heads wouldn’t have anything to talk about.
