Cognitive incognizance

-      On this steamy hot day of the latest pandemic in the town of graffiti

Opened my eyes. The sun was just rising. Welcome to another day. Do the necessary chores of emptying out my colon and bladder then refurbish with water and coffee to get the day started. The constant depressing news reports of vehicle wrecks, poor politics, mounting death numbers and the unpromising weather report. Seems like this will be an early day.

All these decisions can still be made rationally either by habit or necessity. The routine of putting on my pants before I put on my shoes, riding to the same spot, taking off the gloves then the helmet before locking up and pulling the bag out is so common to do it in my sleep. Perhaps I was asleep?

The daily rituals sometimes questions did you lock the door?

Cognitive incognizance can come in many forms. It may be internal misconnections or it may be intentional.

We, as a species, seem to like to cloud our thoughts for reality is hard. Sometimes that effort to escape life works.

With age getting up and moving through life becomes slower due to the body response. The same is true for cognition.

Reading an article that before was a quick scan will need a second look to comprehend. Writing a letter may need an editorial review to make sense. The train of thought can go off the track.

Perhaps our generation that has been overwhelmed by television, radio and social media has drowned our ability to skip the trash and absorb prime information that can teach and make our life better?

The time will come when your appearance or statements will be misunderstood by society and you will be declared cognitive impaired.

I’ve written this blog for years with thousands of post. It has been a journal, newsletter and a timeline library. It is also a cognitive test.

Without face-to-face communication, the written word in this blog or on email is the only link to the outside world. If it is total nonsense others have been very kind in their response.

Someday I won’t be able to figure out what is for lunch. Did I get the mail? Did I lock the door?

So if you read this and it makes somewhat cognitive understanding then it works to continue writing.

If not, it may be your problem and not mine.
