WAR! What Is It Good For?

Since I’ve been on this planet, there has been WAR. My country was just over one WAR and about to join another WAR and after that another WAR and then invade some far away countries for another WAR while I grew up without any bombs falling on my head. There were lots of movies about WAR but they never showed anyone winning. If WAR is a game, who wins? What are the spoils of WAR except burnt down buildings, dead bodies and homeless folks looking for food?

There was WAR before I got here and I imagine WAR will be here when I’m gone.

So what is WAR good for?

I think I figured it out!

There are companies that make weapons. Started out from a piece of bronze could cut the fellow who was carrying a rock. Then the skill of refining weapons and manufacturing increased.

So what is WAR good for?

WAR is good for testing all these new and exciting deadly tools.

Theory is good and firing ranges are swell, but what beats blowing up an island with one bomb?

Since everyone can’t park a tank in front of their house or have rocket launchers in the backyard to fire off on holidays, the manufacturers must sell their wares to the government. They got lots of money and besides it is for defense.

Our continent is mostly an island with water on both sides and Mexico is only attacking us with drugs we already ordered and Canada is too cold and drunk to need a wall. The Japs attacked our 50th state but never the mainland. Couple of whacking folks flew planes into NY buildings, but we never had to defend the beaches.

Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon Technologies and others made contracts with the government to provide the latest and greatest machines of WAR and we all paid for it celebrating being the badass of the globe.

Every year, just like the automotive manufacturers, the newest WAR model of super destruction was rolled out on the red carpet. Don’t worry about the cost; we’ll borrow for it.

What about the leftovers from yesterday’s WAR?

There is always some other country fighting their WAR who will gobble up the less than latest upgrade to death. The trash could be mothballed or scraped rusting metal or just dumped in the ocean.

Now our armed forces have all these cool guns and rockets and missiles, where can they use them? Don’t want to bomb your own citizens, so find another land to bomb. Invade another sovereign region and lock and load.

WAR! What is it good for?

Target practice.
