What is the price of Intimacy?

In this time and age of keeping distance from others, how can there be intimacy? What is the price?

Intimacy is the closeness between two people. It is sharing the secrets no one else knows or becoming physically familiar more than friendship.

What about a dead man’s wife?

That first flirt, that first kiss, that first... Well you know intimacy goes beyond friendship.

Was it a virgin kiss? Was it the pubescent adventure of exploration and wonder?

Did it change your life to become a family with a stranger?

Did you wonder what the previous person had done before they met you? What was their intimacy with another?

When the connection is finished by lack of interest or death, how can you fit in? Do you fill a replacement or just space?

For someone to have spent enough time with another to marry and raise a family and adopt a pet and purchase a house and plant a garden and take a vacation with in-laws and experience pain and suffering together, how can you replace that?

How do you know you can trust another person with your most intimate thoughts? How will they respond? Will they even care? How will you handle their secrets?

Once allowed to enter a body cavity, there is intimacy. Is this a meaningful bonding? Is this a show of affection? Is this a necessity of continuing the species?

Quarantining limits intimacy except with those in the same room. It is a different world.
