The Wall

Seems to be a lot of talk about building a wall. A wall to keep ‘them’ out or keep ‘us’ in.
The idea is this giant slab of concrete that will just stop people and they will turn around and go back. What were they doing there in the first place?
There must be a rainbow on this side of the wall that we can’t see but it is hypnotic and everyone wants the pot of gold. It is said some bring the pot with them.
The last estimate of what a 700-mile wall would cost our country is $18,000,000,000,000.00. That seems to my mind a lot of money that could be going to something more life affirming than a roadblock.
My idea is this: Why not use Police Tape? You know that yellow tape that is wrapped around every crime scene or disaster. It simply says: Do Not Cross. Somehow we obey the message and stay on the other side.
This can’t cost too much for a roll of yellow vinyl, even for 700-miles. It might look like some kind of Christo art presentation.
“What?” you say. How can people from different lands read the message? Good point. Maybe it needs to be written in Spanish also? And Syrian? And Greek? And Latin?
What about people that can just walk under the yellow tape? That is another good point. What keeps us in check but on the other side are those guys in uniforms carrying weapons.
Ye ole methods of keeping enemies out were to build tall castles surrounded by moats. Maybe we can build a big ditch, like the Panama Canal, and drain all our sewage into it. If you swim through that is it a form of vetting?
There are also proven techniques like barbed wire, lasers, wild animals and minefields that give people pause before entering a space.
