Put Down

When your pet gets old and sick and feeble, you make the decision to end its life. The same is true for an injured horse beyond medical help.

You put down the animal.

The decision for euthanasia is a difficult one, but the actual process is painless and very quick, granting our beloved pets a peaceful ending to their lives.

The vet will tell you your pet will lapse into unconsciousness, and then progress to anesthesia (the absence of pain).

Animals are put down everyday for our consumption.

The most humane methods are those that cause a rapid loss of blood so that death is brought about as quickly as possible. These include ventral neck cuts (for poultry, sheep and goats) and chest sticking (for cattle, sheep, goats and pigs).

Life support replaces or supports a failing bodily function. When patients have curable or treatable conditions, life support is used temporarily until the illness or disease can be stabilized and the body can resume normal functioning. At times, the body never regains the ability to function without life support.

In this time of isolation from family, the medical professional will have to make the decision to cease life support. When all hope for recovery has gone, the plug is pulled and the patient is put down.
